Mixing the Old with the New (Free SVG)

Hi Again! I have been working on some 4 x 6 swaps for a group that I belong to and one of the themes was something floral so I decided to use an old svg file I have had for a long time but never used myself.

I hope you can see what I have done here. I am not sure this picture is very good. The whole thing is only 4 inches high and it sparkles so it was hard to get a good picture of it.

Here is how I made this:
The Flower is an old file you can find HERE. It's the first one on the page.
The Vase is a new file I just created in svg format. It's FREE until Friday. CLICK HERE to get it.
I cut 3 flowers and the vase using white card stock paper.
I then inked the middle of the flower petal with Stampabilities Yellow Pigment Ink Pad. Then I used Tim Holtz Victorian Velvet Distress Ink Pad along the sides of the petals.
I used Tim Holtz Pealed Paint Distress Ink for the leaves and the stems.
For the Vase I used the Stampabilities Yellow Pigment Ink Pad.
After I had my colors the way I wanted them I embossed all of them with clear embossing powder for a smooth shine.
Then on the vase and the flower petals I used Stamp n Stuff "kaleidoscope" transparent Embossing Powder to give it some sparkle.

Well I hope you enjoyed my little tutorial and your free svg file....Enjoy!!

Love Card for Swap & Tutorial

I use to own a house that had these same hinges on the doors on the kitchen cabinets. I have also seen them on old trunks and other old items. Old memories is where I got my inspiration..lol..

I wanted to show you how I make hinges look like metal. First the material I use is from cereal boxes or the backing from the paper card stock books I buy (that should give you an indication of how thick the material is). I place my setting up all the way on my Cricut to cut my hinges and tags.

Here you see what it looks like after I cut it with my Cricut.

Here you see two samples of the end results.
Instructions:
For Black Hinge: Pat your black pigment ink on hinge. Make sure you get plenty on it. Then on a clean piece of paper place your hinge in the middle and sprinkle with black embossing powder. Don't be afraid to put a ton. Now pick up the hinge and tap off the excess embossing powder. Set the hinge on the table and pick up the paper and put access powder back into the bottle.
Now use your heat gun to melt the powder. HINT: use something sharp and pointy to hold your hinge down to keep it from blowing away while using your heat gun.

After your hinge has cooled run it through your Cuttlebug. Make sure the holes are facing down and not protruding upwards.

For Antique Hinge: Do the same as above only use copper embossing powder and clear embossing ink first...then run it through your Cuttlebug.

After running through the Cuttlebug pat it with the black pigment ink and then the black embossing powder. Tap off the access real well and then use your heat gun again. The end result is the antique look.

Here is all the supplies that I used.
Cricut
Cuttlebug (Polka Dots)
Black Pigment Ink
Clear Embossing Ink
Black Embossing Powder (Martha Stewart)
Copper Embossing Powder (Martha Stewart)
Heat Gun
Backing from Paper Card Stock Stack.

Here is a bottom view of the card I made using my hinges and a tag that I did using the same technique a the Antique hinge.

Here is my Love Card...I think it has a bit of a Victorian look. What do you think?
Well I hope that I was helpful in explaining how I made my hinges and tag. If you have any questions please leave me a comment with your email address and I will answer as quickly as possible.....Have a Blessed Day!!!

P.S. The SVG files I used are below this post.....ENJOY!!

Scrapbook Page and Cut File

I call this layout "Center of Attention"

How I Made This Layout
I used a double sided 12 x 12 paper to cut my file on. Then I used a one sided 12 x 12 paper for the brown backing. The flowers in the corners are stamped on then embossed with black and gold embossing powder to match the paper. I used a gold pen to outline the picture of my grandson and double sided tape to adhere his picture in the middle. My oldest grandson is the center of attention in this layout... :)

I created this cut file myself but was inspired by my friend Penny Duncan and her cut files.
To fold simply fold large cuts backwards and tuck under last smaller cut.

My Scrapbox Book

Today is Sunday which means it is Scrapbox Sunday Challenge day. I made another mini book with my scraps and tried to make a tutorial on how I made it. I hope it is understandable if not please just ask and I will try to better explain what I did.
How I made my book:
Materials:
12 x 12 backing off of book of scrapbook paper. It's thick but not too thick.
Lot's of scrap paper that are color cordinated.
Crafting glue, I used Martha Stewarts.
Tools to cut paper and hole punch.
I used my Cricut Expression to cut shapes out of my scraps.

First thing I did was cut my backing into 4 6x6 pieces as shown below.

Here you see my scrap paper in piles according to how I am going to use them. The larger pieces will be used to cover my 6x6 backing and the smaller pieces will be used to cut shapes out of them.

Here I have already covered my 6x6 backing on both sides.

Here I cut some extra backing I had to make tabs for my pages using my Cricut. You can get the SVG files for my tabs in the post below.

I then marked my book cover with a pencil so I could put 2 holes on the side. After punching out the holes I then used the book cover as a template for the other pages so all the holes would be in the same place.

Here I am making my binding for my book to hide the edges and make it look more like a book. My book is a half inch thick so my scrap cardstock paper is 3 inches wide.

I measure one inch on my front and back cover to glue my binding down.

After I glued my binding down I used my hole punch to and existing holes as a guide to punch holes into the binding.

I then used ribbon to bind all my pages together. Use extra ribbon so you can open your book.
Here are the results.......ENJOY!!

This is actually my very first book I have ever created and I did it 100% out of scraps! If you have any questions about how I made it please leave me a comment or email me and I will do my best to answer......ENJOY!!

My First 3D Card!!

Yep this is my very first 3D card and I love it!!
How I made this card:
First the paper that I used on my Cricut to cut my card was actually wallpaper, the kind you can paint. I really like it because it is already embossed and very easy to work with. So after I cut my card on my Cricut (cut file is below) I painted it with "Metallic Pearl White Acrylic Paint" by Folk Art, Plaid. It gave the card a pearlized look.

Next: After the paint dried I put spray adhesive on the back of the card.

Tip: Hold card over garbage can or bucket while spraying to keep the spray from getting all over everything.

After spraying my card I layed it flat on dark blue 12 x 12 background paper. Then pressed from the middle outward. Once the card and the background paper were securely attached to one another I trimmed off the access blue paper.

Tip: Be sure your background paper is larger than your card to give yourself room for error. You can always trim but you can never add.

Next: I painted the blue background paper on the front of the card but left the middle oval part alone. I used the same paint as above.

Next: I cut my 3D art, stacked the pics and used foam strips to give it a raised affect. I then glued the completed 3D art onto the middle of my card. Thats it.

I hope I have explained how I made this card in a way you can understand what I am saying. If you have questions just leave me a comment and I will try to answer.

Tip: To find 3D art just do an internet search for "free 3D Decoupage".

ENJOY and have a Blessed Day and thank you for visiting my blog!!!

Round Lacy Victorian Shoe Card

I love anything Victorian and this picture of a shoe, well it just spoke to me and inspired me. I once again tried to pick out colors and shapes, aka doilies, that to me were in tradition with the victorian era.

This is a multi layered card.
Here is how I made it.
With my Cricut and using 3 different papers I cut a round card, round scalloped circle, and round plain circle made of vellum.

I ran the scalloped circle through my Cuttlebug to give it texture and depth plus I used a small store bought round paper Doily that I also ran through my Cuttlebug.

I printed the shoe picture on Vellum and then cut it out with my craft knife.

In order and using spray adhesive
1. Place the round vellum on top of the shoe.
2. The vellum and shoe on top of the doily.
3. The doily on top of the round scalloped circle.
4. Then the scalloped circle on the card.

And there you have it!!
